Can't set pedal keys with Wizard

(We haven’t had a chance to confirm this, but we thought we’d post it in case you’re seeing similar issues – BL 12/6/07)

We’ve had some reports from folks who are unable to use the wizard to define the footpedal keys on an otherwise working foot pedal. There are two related causes:

1. If you’re finding that moving the mouse ‘undoes’ your footpedal setting, (e.g. you set “Play” to “(your footpedal) Button #1”, and then when you go to click “Next”, InqScribe replaces your footpedal setting with the name of your mouse), try using another mouse to set the pedal, or try first moving the mouse to the “Next” button, set the pedal button, then click “Next.”

2. On Mac OS X, using “USB Overdrive” can cause some conflicts with assigning footpedals. Your system might recognize the footpedal (e.g. you can see the footpedal in System Profiler), but when you press the pedal buttons using the Set Up Foot Pedal Wizard, nothing happens. In this case, you may need to uninstall USB Overdrive. IMPORTANT: Use the “USB Overdrive” uninstaller to remove it to make sure that you remove all remnants of USB Overdrive.
