My computer crashed. How do I recover my backed up InqScribe file?

InqScribe does have a Auto Save Backup feature (you can turn this on or off and adjust the frequency of the backups under “Edit > Options...” in Windows and “InqScribe > Preferences...” on Mac).

After a crash, auto-backups should open the next time you launch InqScribe. If they don’t, you can track down the files manually in the following locations:

  • In Windows XP, InqScribe stores autosave backups in the following location: C: > Documents & Settings > Username > Application Data > InqScribe > Backups. Quit InqScribe, delete the backup files, and relaunch InqScribe.
  • In Vista, InqScribe stores autosave backups in the following location: C: > Users > your-username > AppData > Roaming > InqScribe > Backups.
  • In MacOS, InqScribe stores autosave backups in the following location: your-home-folder > Library > Preferences > InqScribe > Backups

Of course, the best remedy is to ALWAYS SAVE OFTEN!!
